What an honor to get to present on our Employee Experience retention work this year with the most amazing boss, Dr. J.W. Mozley, Ph.D., SHRM-CP!! And, to get an award of recognition for the work we’ve done is the cherry on top!!! So grateful and looking forward to building on this foundation of supporting and partnering with schools this year in my beloved GCPS!!!

This right here is such a beautiful picture of what public education can and should look like! So proud to be a part of Team GCPS and work in the same district as Lynnette Aponte Ed.S and many others who’s hearts and minds are for the right work!

What an honor it was to be a part of the National School Redesign Symposium with amazing GCPS students and school and civic leaders!! Thank you to John Hopkins University for opening up space for this conversation on student agency, belonging, and connectedness! Can’t wait to see what comes from this!

The last few days, we’ve taken Future Teacher Signing Day on the road!! ✨🍎 Some of our students couldn’t make it to the event a couple weeks ago so Beth Autrey (CTAE) and I brought it to them! We traveled to:🧡 Parkview HS💚Grayson HS❤️North Gwinnett HS 💙Seckinger HS Seckinger and Grayson’s students were also big scholarship winners!!! 🤩It was so special to get to celebrate these students who want to come back to GCPS to be a teacher after they graduate their education programs! Thankful for their current teachers, school fam, and actual fam who have poured into them! It takes a village to “grow our own”!!! LOVELOVE!!!

“I believe in you, I believe in me, I believe in the ‘B’!!!” Berkmar High School is a special place! It has almost a 60 year history and tradition in GCPS. And this school year, I’ve had the HONOR and PRIVILEGE to get to partner with their PHENONMENAL Principal Durrant Williams and a cohort of his teacher leaders to continue to build the employee experience and, ultimately, student experience at Berkmar HS! Mr. Williams had the vision to develop the teachers in his building who expressed a desire for leadership and he made it happen! We met monthly for 6 sessions and a 7th of celebration! The professional learning sessions were all about building their capacity learning about themselves as leaders and also getting poured into and equipped by some amazing district leaders like Eric Thigpen, Tamia Robb M.Ed, Ed.S, and Emily Young, Ed.D. So grateful for yall!!! Mr. Williams also developed a strategy for them to shadow APs to understand what a day-in-the-life really looks like. They used this learning to develop their capstone projects - meeting an area of need in the school that aligns with their strengths and passions. The celebration last week of the work this group has done this year was special. Mr. Durrant encouraged, challenged, and celebrated his teachers (and me 🥹)! This cohort is special. This school is special! It starts with leadership! I’m excited to see all that is to come for Berkmar HS! I believe in the B!!!
